Hello! I’m Elvir.

I’ve packed quite a few lives into one! Here’s a timeline of my journey so far…

1972
Born in Yugoslavia

Grew up in Sarajevo

My (failed!) attempt at playing the violin

My love for engineering began early - here I am aged 13 with a 3.5MHz morse code radio I built from scratch.

I was also a bit of a poet... my poetry was published in Yugoslavia National Journals in the mid 80s.

1990
Moved to America

Me looking very serious at high school graduation!

Started my first tech company aged 21 - Kedly Inc. (initials of my Mom, brother and me).

Graduated with an Engineering Doctorate from Washington University.

Began my spiritual path through transformational trainings and coaching.

Married and father of 4!

2000s
Academia, Marathons, & HealthTech

In 2005, I worked at NYU Medical School's "Brain Research Lab" with Dr. E. Roy John, an icon in the world of brain and consciousness research

Competed in four marathons, 3 in NYC and 1 in San Diego (where I got my PB of 3:48). Alas, an injury brought an end to my marathon days...

Served as Professor of Applied Math at Yale, 2001-2006

Founded Everest Biomedical (now Stryker Instruments) and BrainScope, pioneering groundbreaking brain technology.

2010s
Wall Street & The Law

Founded Black Stone and Tech+IP Capital, boutique investment bank to protect IP assets of global innovators.

Graduated law school at University of California in 2016.

2020s
Integration of my spiritual & business sides

Founded UpEnd, a new school of Ancient Wisdoms.

Serving as board member for social justice and sustainability groups - WorkLife Law, EarthLaw Center & As You Sow.

Dr. Elvir Causevic, Esq.

Elvir is a rebel entrepreneur and wisdom activist. He’s been a professor, engineer, exec, investment banker, people coach, and Earth lawyer. He now runs a boutique investment bank Tech+IP Capital, Upend, a new school of ancient wisdoms, and is a Board director at EarthLaw and WorkLife Law.

Losing his country to war as a teen, Elvir finds home in disparate worlds, and kinship with the othered. He's since joyously clipped four umbilical cords of children who changed his life, tasted the world’s finest mountain rivers, and inhaled old-growth forests. He can never again pretend not to know a beauty way.

He holds a doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, a law degree from University of California Hastings College of the Law, and apprenticed as transformational coach at Phoenix 2000 and Trainer Designs.

Today, Elvir’s quest is to refresh our collective memory of our ancient wisdoms, so we can each live well, enjoy each other, and cherish our Earth.
